Refresh Botanical Tea

60grams

Nursing (or breastfeeding) your little bundle of joy is one of the most important ways to give your child a healthy start to life, however it offers its own set of unique challenges. We have blended this organic herb infusion to support mummas during their feeding journey, with a unique compilation of plants, including galactogogues which are herbs that can help stimulate milk production.

Speak to your health practitioner to seek personalised advice before using.

Ritual: Infuse 1 -2 tsp of tea in 1 cup of very hot water (not boiling) for 2-5 minutes before straining. Enjoy mindfully.

Organic Ingredients: Fenugreek Seeds, Marshmallow Root, Oat Straw, Nettle, Lemon Verbena

FENUGREEK SEEDS  (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

Fenugreek seeds have a high iron, magnesium & vitamin content and offer a number of medicinal uses including increasing milk production in lactating women, reducing the symptoms of eczema, stimulating appetite, reducing inflammation and improving digestive issues.  Studies have shown that supplementation with herbal tea containing fenugreek can significantly enhance breast milk production and facilitate infant birth weight regain in early postnatal days.

MARSHMALLOW ROOT (Althaea officinalis)

Marshmallow root has traditionally been used to boost immunity and  for the treatment of colds, flu and symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infection.  It is considered a gently galactagogue herb which works most effectively when combined with other herbs including fenugreek.

There is some evidence that having marshmallow early on can help alleviate some of the symptoms of novel viruses.  In addition, some research suggests that the mucilage and flavonoids in the marshmallow plant may cover and protect the mucous lining of the stomach and gut, which may reduce the risk of certain ulcers and treat leaky gut syndrome.

OAT STRAW  (Avena sativa)

Oat straw comes from the unripened Avena sativa plant, and has traditionally been used to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression and is considered to have a gentle, supportive nature. It is a good source of many minerals including calcium & magnesium which work together for effective muscle stimulation & relaxation. Oat straw also contains the antioxidants known as avenanthramides which help improve blood flow, and research has shown that it can boost brain function, improve mood and reduce inflammation.

NETTLE  (Urtica dioica) leaves

Nettle leaf contains a significant number of biologically-active compounds including vitamin C and pro-vitamin A, and has traditionally been used to relieve the symptoms of a variety of allergies including hayfever, as well as painful muscles and joints, eczema, gout and anaemia. It is rich in minerals with a high iron content and may help combat fatigue during pregnancy, as well as potentially improve the elasticity of veins helping reduce the occurrence of varicose veins and haemorrhoids.   It has also been used for many years to support milk supply in breastfeeding mothers.

LEMON VERBENA (Alousia triphylla) aerials

Lemon verbena has a light lemon flavour and has traditionally been used to promote healthy milk flow. It’s also a soothing relaxant, and may help make breastfeeding a more harmonious experience.  It can act as a mild sedative, stop muscle spasms, reduce fever, alleviate indigestion and help increase appetite.  It may assist with reducing oxidative damage and reducing muscle damage after exhaustive exercise,   improving sleep quality, weight loss, reducing inflammation, supporting the immune system and relieving congestion.
