Handmade Eucalyptus Pepper Mills – One of a Kind, Built to Last

Crafted in the Gold Coast hinterland, each of these pepper mills is hand-turned from reclaimed, weathered Eucalyptus Gum, making every piece a unique work of functional art. These mills are created exclusively for Shack Palace in small batches, and each collection tends to sell out quickly due to their distinctive craftsmanship and high demand.

Two Striking Finishes – No Two Alike

Natural Ebonised: For this lighter variation, the timber is painted with a light coating of the same ebonising solution. This preserves more of the natural grain and texture of the eucalyptus, resulting in a softer tone with unique variations shaped by the reclaimed wood itself.

Black Charred: Black Charred mills are created using the traditional Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban (Yakisugi), where the timber is carefully charred for durability and character.

Each piece is finished with natural tung oil.

Precision Ceramic Mechanism

At the heart of each mill is a premium Danish-designed ceramic mechanism, known for its exceptional durability and versatility. With 14 adjustable settings, it can handle a wide range of ingredients, including: 

  • Peppercorns (all types)

  • Quality white rock salt

  • Dried herbs, spices, and even coffee beans!

Dimensions: Approx. 33cm tall x 6cm diameter (please note these dimensions can vary slightly between mills)

Care Instructions: Suitable for whole peppercorns and dry, hard salts. For best results, avoid using moisture-rich salts like Himalayan rock salt to prevent clogging.

Given the artisanal nature of these mills, each one has its own character and charm – a true celebration of craftsmanship and reclaimed natural materials.

I had my eye on the post gum pepper mill for a while but it wasn’t until I saw a video on IG that I realised that it was of a substantial size and the quality was impeccable. I love the natural tones and textures of the timber. It is a stand out piece in my kitchen and far exceeds generic, mass produced mills.
