Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) Juice Powder
The delicious sweet, tangy seeds of the pomegranate fruit pack a serious punch when it comes to health. Studies have shown that the polyphenols in pomegranate have potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic effects, helping prevent and treat various disease risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, oxidative stress, hyperglycaemia, and inflammation. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects also have the potential to enhance endurance, strength performance and recovery by improving cardiovascular responses during and following exercise. Research suggests that pomegranate may be effective in improving performance outcomes at maximal effort and might also help to restore force in damaged muscles.
Beetroot (Beta vulgaris) Powder
We have popped in some beetroot powder to further enhance the body’s ability to achieve maximum performance. As a source of nitrate, beetroot ingestion can increase nitric oxide availability which in turn can help reduce high blood pressure and reduce oxidative stress & inflammation. Studies have also consistently shown that taking beetroot as a powder or juice improves exercise performance in athletes, individuals with cardiopulmonary diseases, and lean subjects.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) 10:1 extract powder
Also featuring in this blend is the Indian tonic herb Ashwagandha (also known as Indian ginseng) known for its unique ability to revitalise and rejuvenate striking a balance between strengthening and fortifying the body while also activating the parasympathetic nervous system to foster calmness. In Ayurvedic medicine it is traditionally used to promote healthy sleep patterns, support reproductive hormones and foster a healthy stress response in the body. It may also help with calming the mind and supporting healthy ageing.
Schisandra Berry (S. chinensis) 10:1 dual extract
Just to make sure we have enough different phytochemicals in this delicious blend, we have added the unique flavour of the schisandra berry (bitter, sweet, sour, salty and hot!). This medicinal berry has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and more recently research has supported the health benefits it can offer.
It is most well-known for boosting liver function and helping with adrenal function and stress modulation, however it is also a powerful brain tonic (improving focus, concentration, memory and mental energy), can modify the response to stress, aid digestion, support hormonal balance and protect and promote healthy skin.
Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus)
If that’s not enough to get you excited about our Vitality Brew, we’ve also added in Siberian Ginseng which is an adaptogen that helps the body better handle and adapt to stress, and also acts as a stimulant, increasing nervous system function. It also appears to have positive effects on energy levels, may reduce fatigue and enhance exercise performance.
Pink Lake Salt
We have added a small amount of salt to help balance the flavours of this blend, enhancing sweetness and suppressing bitterness.
And we have sourced what we believe is one of the best quality salts available in Australia. Harvested from the unique Pink Lake in Western Victoria, this naturally occurring salt is a concentrated store of natural mineral nutrients including calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulphur, iron, manganese, zinc and copper as well as beta carotene. The lake is fed by natural salt aquifers and each summer dries out to reveal a bed of salmon coloured pink salt (from the red algae present). Mount Zero and the lake’s traditional owners, the Barengi Gadjin Land Council have been working together to hand harvest a small amount of salt from the lake each year.
